Colorblind Ideology
A digital mix-media series that I created for my digital art final, Fall 2014.In these pieces I try to explore the negative effects of a colorblind society. Although it seems to be the correct response to racism, colorblind ideology only perpetuates racism in our society. It says, people of color I do not see you and I prefer not to see you because it is more comfortable for me to do so. It is believed that if color or race is taken out of the situation there is no longer racism, but it still exists because it is a systemic problem. In addition, colorblind ideology takes way the chance of seeing the systemic disparities that affect people of color in our society, but also the different aspects that make us unique and beautiful.
